About Lemonade Mouth

Lemonade Mouth is the titular band of Lemonade Mouth, consisting of protagonists Charles "Charlie" Delgado, Mohini "Mo" Banjaree, Olivia White, Stella Yamada, and Wendell "Wen" Gifford. The pop/rock band started in the basement of Mesa High when the five students were each independently sent to detention for various reasons. Initially complete strangers to each other, they discovered they could play well together, leading to the eventual formation of the band. Towards the end of the movie, Scott Pickett joins the band as a backup guitarist.

Lemonade Mouth stands as an empowering voice for those who they felt were under-represented at Mesa High, with a motto of "Be strong, be proud, be heard." They repeatedly stand up to Principal Brenigan, who focuses the school's funding on sports and little else while carefully maintaining his sponsorship deal with Turbo Blast. Before being known as Lemonade Mouth, the group got together to discuss names, with "Soul Groove", "The Anarchists", and "Wen" being suggested by Charlie, Stella, and Wen respectively; they ultimately earned their name after Stella spit Mel's Lemonade at Ray Beech (lead singer of rival band Mudslide Crush), causing him to call her "Lemonade Mouth."

The group bonds over Mel's Lemonade as the lemonade machine is just outside their basement room and it naturally evolved into a symbol of the band, often used to help motivate the group during trying times.
